The Living Healthy in the Real World Guide to Budgeting

It’s time for another mini-series! As the possession date for my condo looms ever closer (mid-April! Right in the middle of exams! I’m, um, all about the timing ;)), I find myself feeling the tightening on my wallet. But just because I have to count my pennies, doesn’t mean I intend on being cheap- just frugal! The rhetoric of our word choice makes all the difference.

I had fully intended on conducting a mini-series about Cooking after our Grocery Shopping mini-series, just because the two work so well together, but finances and budgeting are the more relevant issue in my life right now and it’s something that I would love to discuss with you now rather than waiting. We’ll get to the Cooking mini-series at some point, but right now, we’re going to focus on Budgeting.

Here are the issues that I intend on addressing in my Budgeting Guide, Living Healthy in the Real World-Style:

- Understanding Your Expenses

- Making Sacrifices (we’re not talking about lambs on alters here. Just cutting back on the number of movies we go out to see. Obviously.)

- Loans and Debt

- Eating Healthy

- Fitting in Exercise

- Treating Yourself

- Looking Towards the Future

If you would like anything else addressed in this mini-series, I’m open to more suggestions! Have I missed out something crucial? Is there something special you want me to include? Are finances and budgeting an issue in your life right now? Leave your thoughts, ideas, and questions in the comments below.

  1. What a fantastic idea!! I will have to keep p with this series, as Nick and I are in a similar situation as you, with the closing of our first home in April!! Yikes. We have been trying to save as much as possible, We barely eat out anymore (maybe twice a month, and I think that’s necessary) and we really only spend money on bills, food, and other necessities. I also get my clothes at consignment shops! haha, I love it!
