Pickles!

Mr Science and I have now pickled twice. It is exciting.

We pickled green beans and cucumbers in a slightly sweet brine:

Pickled cukes and green beans!

Love the chunks of red bell pepper.

It's amazing how many cucumber slices and green beans you can stick in those jars.

And then we pickled more green beans and cucumbers in a “dill pickle” brine:

Lots of garlic and dill in these guys!

Do you still have lots of beans? (Of course, you do – beans produce forever!) Try mustard beans. Have you made pickled beets yet? How about dilled carrots? Did you plant pumpkins? I have a great recipe for hot and spicy pumpkin chutney that is fabulous! Salsa? Stewed tomatoes? Tomato sauce? Pizza sauce? Hot pickled peppers? Hot & Sweet Thai Dipping Sauce?
Jam? Jelly? Onion jam? Pepper Jelly?

Okay, I’m stopping now. Let me know if you want recipes for any of the aforementioned.
And good for you for canning!! I’m proud of you! 🙂

OOOOHHHH! Those all sound amazing! Email me some recipes? (sagan.morrow@gmail.com)

Since we’re doing the CSA thing right now we don’t have a lot of control over what we’re getting (problematic when you live in a balcony-less condo when it comes to growing things!), but fingers crossed we’ll be getting lots of tomatoes soon! Would LOVE recipes for tomato sauce and such. And Mr Science MAY be drooling over the idea of Hot & Sweet Thai Dipping Sauce right now 😉

We have two big bags of green beans so a recipe for mustard greens would also be super!

I am so excited to eventually one day come and visit you and can tasty items. It will be excellent. 😀
